Instructor: Lillian Loponen
Monday evenings, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
January 12 and 19

Location: Arts Underground, lower level Hougen Center
Cost: $110.00 (all supplies included)

Lillian Loponen carries with her 32 years of working with watercolour. In this course Lillian takes the student on an adventure of exploration in watercolour techniques, imaging and design concepts. Watercolour play is the focus used to explore the medium; gently taking the student away from
preconceived ideas of what art is and into intuitive imagining and design.
The hope is to change perspective on what creativity is. The final product is a cropped view of student work suitable for exhibition, art cards, a journal book cover, etc.

No art skills are necessary and no drawing is required.

Course outline:
- Learn basic properties of color
- Develop a vocabulary of color terminology
- Investigate the categories of color schemes and discord
- Mix colors and create a personal color wheel in acrylics
Please note this is a survey course, an in depth study of the above would continue in a level two class with an additional color chart to create.

At least 2 glaze firings will take place allowing an introduction
to slip and surface decoration and to various glaze decorating techniques.
